Meet the Team

FIC Counsellor

Kelly Chang (CCC)
Canadian Certified Counsellor
Hello, my name is Kelly.

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). I hold a master’s degree is Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle. One of my favourite quotes is “shame dies when stories are told in a safe space.” As a counsellor, I aim to provide students with a safe and confidential space to explore, learn and thrive.

I am passionate about working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and believe that diversity is something to be celebrated. With a passion for social justice, and rooted in a strengths-based collaborative approach, I see my work as an opportunity to join with others on their journey to discover all that they already are, and to further support them to become who they would like to be. It is my honour and privilege to bear witness to both the tough and tender moments along the way.

On my free time, I enjoy baking, playing board games, and hiking with my dogs. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your FIC/SFU journey.

FIC Student Wellness Specialist

Jacinda Wijaya

Hello, my name is Jacinda but you can call me J!

I am an FIC and SFU alumna where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Counselling and Human Development. I help students find the most suitable resources to be connected to, whether it be resources already available at FIC or within the local communities. I also support students who are looking to get some additional support in transitional challenges like understanding the new academic environment, time management, interpersonal relationships and more!

I will strive to work with you to utilize your existing strengths, discover some new ones and most importantly, help you find ways to enjoy your international student experience.

When I am not at work, I spend most of my time with my puppy, going on walks and practicing tricks. I am a music-lover and avid concert go-er. I have seen 20 artsts (and counting) live so far. You will also almost always find me playing some music in the background. Some of my favourite artists are Coldplay, BTS, Khalid, and IU. I hope to be able to connect with you and be part of your transformational international student experience – come say hi!
