Overview
International Year One (UTP Stage II): Communication, Art and Technology is equivalent to the first year of SFU’s Bachelor of Arts degree. The courses provide introduction to three Schools housed within the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology. The first year of learning is a foundation for a bachelor of arts degree in Communication, Interactive Arts and Technology or a double minor specialization.

Effective Summer 2024 (Summer term), under the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, FIC offers entry into the School the Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University. A degree in Interactive Arts and Technology prepares students to play a leading role in the conception of new media and the design of inventive technologies. A SIAT education combines the science of human experience, the analysis of media and culture, the creation of original and experimental works of art, and the implementation of new technologies. Students bring these resources to bear on the most vital and innovative sectors of the economy, building the technologies and experiences that increasingly shape our lives.
Students have the option of choosing either a Bachelors or Arts or a Bachelors of Science at SFU. Students are required to complete the required courses to transfer into the program.

Program Requirements and Required Courses
The Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology now offers different program pathway options. To transfer into any program in the Faculty of Communications, Arts, and Technology, students must complete the requirements listed below, which include at least one ‘W’ and one ‘Q’ course.

The minimum admission CGPA and GPA will vary depending on the program of entry.
All (direct) students are required to take (and pass) ILS101/ILSA101 – Integrated Learning Skills and ALC101/ALAC101 – Academic Literacy Course in their first term of study unless exempted. For ALC exempted requirements, please check the English requirements page*
