Free Income Tax Filing Services – Accounting Student Association

Register to be a Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) client and you will have your tax returns filed by dedicated volunteers trained by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and SFU Accounting Student Association (ASA). The ASA CVITP team filed over 800 returns last year, preserving the benefits and financial entitlements for over 1,000 members of the SFU community as well as providing peace of mind for these individuals in meeting their tax filing obligations.
The ASA CVITP team prepares income tax returns according to the CRA CVITP’s eligibility policy. The CVITP assists eligible taxpayers who have low income, simple and non-complex tax situations
Eligibility Criteria:

Single Person with an annual income of $35,000 or less.

Couple without dependents combined income of $45,000 or less.

Additional $2,500 for each dependent.

Individual with less than $1,000 investment income.
Volunteers do not complete returns with the following:

Own foreign property worth over $100,000 (T1135)

Self-employment income or expenses
-
Business or rental income and expenses
-
Capital gains or losses
-
Filed for bankruptcy
-
A tax return for a deceased person
-
Are Exchange Students staying in Canada for less than 1 year
-
Are visiting Canada
-
Interest income over $1,000
-
Major investments/ RRSP/ stocks/ mutual funds/ RESP
