Foundation (UTP Stage I) Overview
Foundation (UTP Stage I) is designed to prepare you for entry to university-level programs in Business Administration, Computing Science, Engineering Science or Arts and Social Sciences. In Foundation (UTP Stage I) you complete eight courses. After successfully completing this program you will progress to International Year One (UTP Stage II).

* Students must successfully complete two Foundation (UTP Stage I) Math courses at the stipulated grade to progress to Engineering Science.
Program Requirements
At the Foundation level, students may choose from a range of courses which are designed to prepare students for university-level studies. To progress to International Year One (UTP Stage II), students must complete 8 classes minimum and achieve a 2.5 CGPA.
Course List
Students enrolled in Foundation must complete 8 courses with a GPA of 2.5. This includes UNI101, IUW100 or INS101/I02, one/two math classes based on your International Year One (UTP Stage II) stream and additional electives to a total of 8. Select your electives based on the program you are planning to attend in Stage II and see an advisor for assistance with course selection.” Please note that not all courses are offered every semester. ILS101/ILSA101 is not a required course for students in Foundation.
Foundation (UTP Stage I) suggested class combinations
70% Jump Rule
Students who have completed 12 years of study in their home country may be eligible to “Jump” to International Year One (UTP Stage II) if they successfully complete four Foundation (UTP Stage I) classes with a minimum 70% average. The determination is made at the time of admission and will be mentioned on the students Letter of Offer if the student is eligible for this exemption.
